We’re thrilled to be DJing at Shrag’s album launch for Life! Death! Prizes! at The Lexington on Thursday 15th October!
It has quickly become one of my favourite LPs of the year so far so it’ll no doubt be a spectacular gig. We saw them a couple of weeks ago and they were on top form.
Support comes from Peepholes and Town Bike whilst tickets are £6 in advance from We Got Tickets.
Darren Hayman’s album launch for Essex Arms at The Luminaire was fantastic last night. The mass singalong to “The Greedy Ugly People” being my particular highlight. If you haven’t already got a copy of the album, I strongly recommend you buy it directly from Fortuna Pop! It’s his best collection of songs since We Love the City in my opinion. Here’s what I played at the gig:
Jens Lekman – The Cold Swedish Winter
Fránçois & the Atlas Mountains – The Song of the Drowning Man
Simon & Garfunkel – The Only Living Boy in New York
Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers – Important in Your Life
Scott Walker – Best of Both Worlds
The Decemberists – The Crane Wife 3
Herman Düne – I Wish That I Could See You Soon
Wild Nothing – Drifer
The Postal Service – Such Great Heights
Dexys Midnight Runners – I Couldn’t Help It If I Tried
The Velvet Underground – What Goes On
Fanfarlo – The Walls Are Coming Down
Saint Etienne – Only Love Can Break Your Heart
Small Faces – All or Nothing
Manic Street Preachers – Freedom of Speech Won’t Feed My Children
We’ve also got Manchester’s finest indiepop DJs Cherry Coloured Pop spinning tunes early doors. It’s free to get in before 10pm and then £4 afterwards and we’ll have copies of the Autumn fanzine on sale along with our badges.
We’ll be playing the very best in indiepop, post-punk and new wave throughout the night. If you’d like to send in your requests please post them the Facebook event.
I’m delighted to announce that I’ve been asked by Fortuna Pop! to DJ at Darren Hayman’s album launch show at The Luminaire on Tuesday. Darren and his Secondary Modern will be playing tracks from their new album Essex Arms and support comes from Dan Michaelson and the Coastguards and micktravis.
Tickets are selling quickly so don’t miss out. You can get yours at We Got Tickets. Everyone who comes gets a free A3 poster designed by Darren. See you on Tuesday!
