Our guest DJ is the ex-Scotland, Everton and Chelsea footballer Pat Nevin! Pat has excellent taste in music and has DJed at the club on several occasions.

He’ll be DJing from 11:30pm so expect to hear the likes of The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Camera Obscura, The Fall, Belle and Sebastian, The Spook School and Joy Division. You can listen to one his past playlists on Spotify and song requests are welcome!

DJING AT INDIETRACKS FESTIVAL

We’ll be DJing at Indietracks Festival this summer. It’s their tenth anniversary and we’ll be doing the club night on Saturday 30th July!

Indietracks is a unique festival combining heritage trains and indiepop music, located at the Midland Railway in Butterley, in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside. Saint Etienne, The Aislers Set, The Spook School, Emma Pollock and Darren Hayman are among the first artists confirmed for this year’s festival.

SCARED TO DANCE PODCAST #58

Our July podcast is back with the best 20 tracks from the past month!

We start with one of our favourite new bands Beds in Parks who release the brilliant “I’m a Warhol”.

Yassassin are a new quintet and we feature “Social Politics” from their upcoming EP. We also have latest singles from Chorusgirl and Joanna Gruesome.

Fortuna POP! and Slumberland Records are putting out an excellent compilation called Continental Drift and we have a trio of songs from it with Mercury Girls, Wildhoney and The Spook School.

WIAIWYA continue their 7” series with Nancy Sin plus there’s the debut single from Seafang and the return of Honeyblood. Pixies are back with “Um Chagga Lagga” from their Head Carrier LP alongside The Wolfhounds, Deerful and Slow Club.

Also on the podcast there’s Palomica, Wilco, Pete Astor, Darren Hayman, Steven James Adams and King Creosote.

ROBIN INCE FILM NIGHT ON SUN 24TH JULY

We’re delighted to announce the second Scared To Dance film night on Sunday 24th July at Genesis Cinema!

Our guest is the comedian, actor and writer Robin Ince. He is best known for presenting the BBC radio show The Infinite Monkey Cage with physicist Brian Cox and Book Shambles with Josie Long. There will be a Q&A with Robin after the film where the audience are invited to ask questions about the film and also about Robin’s career.

Head is a 1968 American adventure musical satirical film written by Jack Nicholson and Bob Rafelson starring The Monkees. Head has developed a cult following since its release being described as “a non-sequitur masterpiece” (Rotten Tomatoes) and “vital and entertaining” (Time Out).
