Robin Ince to guest DJ

We’re back at King’s Cross Social Club on Saturday 29th October with a very special guest. Comedian and writer Robin Ince will be our guest DJ.

I’ve been following Robin’s career for a long time and after seeing him at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival earlier this year it seemed the perfect time to get him to spin some records at the club.

Robin is a big John Peel fan so you can expect plenty of Peel rarities on the night.

There’s a Facebook event where you can post your requests. We’ve had a few problems with inviting people so please RSVP and invite your friends.

Send in your requests for Saturday night

Saturday see’s the return of Scared To Dance at The Albany. We’ve got Niklas Angergård, singer and guitarist in the Acid House Kings, coming all the way from Stockholm to DJ for us. Niklas is a brilliant DJ. He’s a big fan of Sarah and Creation Records so you’re in for a treat.

I’ve been putting together my set for the night which features lots of Swedish indiepop alongside Talulah Gosh, The Hidden Cameras, Ballboy, Comet Gain, The Clash, New Order. What would you like to hear? Please post your requests on Facebook.

We’ll also be projecting Lasse Hallström’s classic My Life as a Dog.

The first Scared To Dance podcast is now available. At just under an hour it has plenty of new releases on it as well as favourite songs from the club. You can listen to it on Mixcloud and it is also available as a download.

Fever Dream step in for This Many Boyfriends

Sadly This Many Boyfriends can no longer open for Shrag on Tuesday 15th November. Stepping in are the excellent Fever Dream.

Fever Dream play dark, fuzzy, menacing music that blurs the line from noisy new wave to angular post-punk. New on the scene, they’re building a reputation as the band to see from sets at Rough Trade’s RoTa and PigPen in London to Berlin.

Their hypnotic sound takes inspiration from Deerhunter, Times New Viking and Sonic Youth whose footsteps they’ll no doubt follow with their brooding, stylish tones.

You can get your tickets now from WeGotTickets.
