Formed in the Black Country in 2019 and now based out of the musical hotbed of Bristol, Melotone are an alternative-psych band fronted by Alec Madeley. The band draw influence from the sounds of the 1960s, in particular the Tropicália movement so popular in Alec’s native Brazil.

Recently signed to Think Twice Records, the band’s latest offering is “And… Beyond”, a song that dives even further into the Brazilian soundscapes combining smooth melodies with a staccato percussion track. The track finds Alec flicking between Portuguese and English, showcasing the band’s increasingly global ambition in contrast to their humble beginnings. Having already found support from online tastemakers and BBC 6 Music DJs alike, Melotone are a band with a unique musical perspective on the verge of something very special indeed.

The self-described “wonkiest band ever to wonk”, FFRANK are a London-based project fronted by vocalist and songwriter, Louise. Taking influences from the great pop-eccentrics the band’s sound is built around abrupt key changes, dissonant harmonies and warped keyboards. They’re only just getting started, but fans of Mamalarky, Rubble Bucket and Foyer Red look no further, FFRANK might just be your new favourite band.
