MOVING MIRRORS GIG ON SAT 1ST JUNE

Moving Mirrors emerged back in the Spring of 2023 with a pair of scene-setting singles, the cascading dreampop of “Wilder State of Mind” and the indiepop meets trip-hop of “Borderline”. Since then the band have been making their mark on the London live scene with shows at the likes of Two Palms, Folklore and The Finsbury.

The band recently shared their first new material of 2024, “Never Going Back Now”, which fuses 90’s influenced guitars with layered, yearning vocals, that seem torn between gazing wistfully to the past and driving forward into whatever is waiting around the corner. One of the most exciting new bands around, Moving Mirrors offer a fresh take on a familiar sound that you’re not going to want to miss.

On the cusp of releasing her debut album, Trick of the Light, Pop Miri has already shared stages with the likes of Voka Gentle, Grimm Grimm and Phoebe Troupe. Dedicated to her ex-husband, and now best friend, Trick of the Light is a self-professed, “breakup album about grief and perspectives”.

Recorded across three years with nine different producers, it’s an unsurprisingly electric affair taking in everything from folk to dream-pop and mystique concrète to surf-psych. While heartbreak and pop are bedfellows as old as time, few artists have embraced it with such open arms as Pop Miri does, a record that celebrates not mourns, “I would recommend everyone to get their heart broken as fully as possible, in as many ways as possible. It’s really very good for you.”
